CareMount Appoints New Assistant Medical Director

CareMount Medical recently appointed a new Assistant Medical Director, Dr. Caroline DeFilippo, to oversee the physicians and group-wide initiatives in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Columbia, and Ulster counties.

“CareMount Medical is thrilled to welcome Dr. Caroline DeFilippo as our new assistant medical director,” said Dr. Scott D. Hayworth, president, and CEO at CareMount Medical. “Not only is Dr. DeFilippo an outstanding physician, but her experience in public health will positively impact the health of all of our patients.”

DeFilippo will be seeing patients in Mount Kisco. In addition, she will play a key role in promoting patient-centered customer service, monitoring the quality of clinical care, and promoting the overall well-being and development of employees.

Prior to joining CareMount Medical, DeFilippo was an internal medicine physician and the associate medical director of Internal Medicine at Westmed Medical Group, where she was responsible for quality initiatives, recruitment, and overall department success. From 2003 to 2005, Dr. DeFilippo was a public health educator at Rockland County Department of Health where she oversaw the lead poisoning prevention, Lyme disease education, and asthma management programs.

“Working alongside CareMount Medical’s superior executive team and talented physicians, my focus will be on enhancing the mission of the organization to deliver affordable and accessible patient-centered care to the communities we serve,” said DeFilippo. “CareMount Medical is a respected and renowned organization. I am looking forward to delivering excellent health care programs to our nearly 550,000 patients throughout the Hudson Valley, a place I grew up in and I am proud to call my home.”

DeFilippo is board certified in Internal Medicine. She graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor of arts degree in environmental studies and public policy and completed graduate certificates in environmental studies and public policy from the University of Adelaide. She received her doctor of medicine and master of public health from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and completed her residency in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
